How are you doing?

One of the greatest bits of advice for leading a meeting was to think of conversation space as an empty vessel that you present for others to fill.
It’s a marvellous analogy.
When you ask someone how they’re doing be sure to listen. You’re creating a space for them to fill. Take the time to let them fill it.
All of my best friendships involve moments where I listened and showed people I love them by making sure they were heard.
