The news is out. The details are still forthcoming but one thing is certain. Grant Imahara is no longer with us on this earth.

Grant Masaru Imahara (October 23, 1970 – July 13, 2020)[1] was an American electrical engineerroboticist, and television host. He is best known for his work on the television series MythBusters, on which he designed and built numerous robots and specialized in operating computers and electronics to test myths. Prior to his television career, Imahara worked at Lucasfilm in the THX division as an engineer and in the Industrial Light and Magic division in visual effects.

My respect for Grant goes beyond what his best known work but rather in the way he approached his body of work. Here’s a man who embraced curiosity in the world around us. He wasn’t afraid to test a fan-written myth or help McDonalds explain to their patrons the science behind their products. It’s this McDonalds era that really had me impressed. It shows he didn’t slouch after one gig ended. He got back to work being an explorer the rest of us could follow.

Thank you, sir. You will be missed.
